Reserving parking in Diest

How to apply
Apply online for an ‘inname openbaar domein’ (use of public space) on the Eaglebe platform (choose Stad Diest and the type ‘Verhuis’). You need an Eaglebe account first. The city services place the no-parking signs themselves. A house move is exempt from the fee.
| When to apply | At least 3 working days ahead if the occupation lasts less than 14 working days and covers at most 5 parking spaces; 10 working days for all other occupations (e.g. closing a street). On a regional road: 10 working days and prior advice from the Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer (Aarschot district). Late applications may be refused. |
| Cost | Free: a house move is exempt from the fee (art. 10 of the public-space fee regulation, council decision 20/12/2021, in force since 01/01/2022). Only one actual moving day is allowed; a second day is charged under the fee regulation (e.g. €15.00 per parking space per day in paid parking or blue zones). Ask the city for the exact amount for a second day. |
| Who places the signs? | The city |
| Limits and furniture lift | One moving day (a second day is charged). The ‘Verhuis’ type may only be chosen for a real house move, not a delivery. State the number of parking spaces in the application; 1 parking space = 10 m². For a furniture or ladder lift, ask the city about the rules. |

You always apply to the municipality yourself, not the mover: then mention the length you have reserved in your message.

How it works
- 1Describe your move, once
Route, floors, furniture, options and, if you like, up to 15 photos (rooms and access): about 3 minutes.
- 2Confirm your e-mail
One click on the link we e-mail you confirms your request. It is checked, then passed to a mover.
- 3One verified mover receives your request
They have 2 hours to accept it (counted between 8 am and 9 pm). A request confirmed between 9 pm and 8 am is passed to a mover from 8 am. If they decline or do not reply, your request goes to the next mover.
- 4You receive their quote through Movzo
They send it within 5 hours (same hours). You accept or decline it; if it does not suit you, you can ask once for another mover.
- 5You deal directly with the mover
Quote accepted: you receive their contact details and they receive yours. You agree and pay directly with them, then you leave a review after the move.
Before you move
- Parking permit: reserve the space with the municipality, at least 3 working days ahead. See how it works
- Furniture lift: from the 2nd floor without a lift, it often saves a lot of time.
- Register your address with your new municipality within 8 working days; a local police officer will visit to confirm.
- Dates: the end of the month and summer are busy. Book 4 to 6 weeks ahead.

FAQ
How much does a move cost?
The price depends on volume, floors, access, distance and options. A verified mover sends you their quote through Movzo, free of charge. For orders of magnitude, see our example prices.
Do I need a parking permit?
Usually yes: you reserve the space in front of your building with the municipality, at least 3 working days ahead. You apply yourself, not the mover.
Do the movers speak English?
Many do, especially in Brussels. Write “English please” in your message; you can also say so in the chat.
