Terms of use

The essentials for clients

  • Free: Movzo charges you nothing. If you accept a quote, you pay the mover directly, never Movzo.
  • Price set by the mover: Movzo does not set any price; only the mover’s quote sets the price of your move.
  • One mover at a time, with a verified company number (European VIES register): they have 2 hours to accept your request, then 5 hours to send you their quote through Movzo (time counted between 8 am and 9 pm).
  • Protected contact details: the mover only receives your name, addresses, phone and e-mail if you accept their quote.
  • Your choice: you accept or decline the quote; after declining, you can ask once for another mover. You can stop your request at any time.
  • Accepting a quote does not yet bind you: you exchange contact details with the mover, then you make the removal contract directly with them. Movzo is not a party to it.
  • Dispute: write to us; if we cannot agree, the Consumer Ombudsman Service can help.

This summary does not replace the detailed terms below.

1. Movzo’s role

Movzo is an online introduction service between people or companies who are moving (“you”, the client) and independent professional movers (“the mover”). Movzo does not carry out moves, does not set the mover’s price and is not a party to the removal contract: that contract is made afterwards directly between you and the mover, who is solely responsible for carrying it out. Accepting a quote on Movzo does not yet bind you (see section 9). Movzo’s identity and contact details are given in the legal notice. By sending a request, you accept these terms.

2. A free service for clients

Using Movzo is free for clients. Movzo never asks you to pay, whether for the request, the quote or the move. Movzo is paid by movers, who pay a fixed amount for each request they accept; this amount is the same for every mover, does not depend on the price of your move and is not added to your quote. Movzo will never ask you to pay for a move on its website or into an account in its name: if anyone asks you to do so on behalf of Movzo, do not pay and let us know.

3. Your request

You describe your move in the form (route, date, homes, floors, furniture, options and, if you wish, up to 15 photos) and give your name and e-mail address. Your request is registered when you click the confirmation link sent by e-mail; this link is valid for 48 hours. A request that is not confirmed is passed to nobody and is deleted. Every confirmed request is checked automatically, and if needed by our team, before being offered to a mover, to prevent fake requests; a doubtful request is only passed on after a person has checked it, and Movzo may decline to follow up a clearly fake or abusive request (you are informed by e-mail).

4. The price

Movzo does not calculate or set the price of your move: only the mover’s quote sets the price. The example prices published on the page Moving costs are indicative orders of magnitude; they are not a quote, an offer or a commitment by the mover or by Movzo.

5. One verified mover at a time

Your request is offered to one mover at a time, chosen automatically among the movers serving your departure address according to these main parameters, in this order: the distance between their company and your departure address (up to 15 km, 30 km, 50 km, beyond), then their service quality score (answers in time and fast, requests accepted, quotes sent in time), then rotation between movers. No mover pays to be ranked higher. Before activating a mover, Movzo checks that their company number is active in the official registers.

  • The mover has 2 hours to accept or decline your request.
  • If they accept, your request is reserved for them and they have 5 hours to send you their quote through Movzo.
  • These periods only run between 8 am and 9 pm (Brussels time), every day: a request offered at 8.30 pm can therefore be answered until 9.30 am the next morning. A request confirmed between 9 pm and 8 am is passed to a mover from 8 am.
  • If the mover declines, does not answer in time or does not send their quote in time, your request automatically goes to the next mover.
  • If no mover is available, we tell you by e-mail; our team may then look for a mover for you.

Movzo does not guarantee that a mover will accept your request, nor how soon you will receive a quote if several movers follow one another.

6. The mover’s quote

The quote is drawn up by the mover, under their sole responsibility: price including VAT, description of the service and, where applicable, date, arrival time or time of day and validity date. You receive it by e-mail and on your personal page, together with the mover’s rating and reviews. The mover can correct their quote as long as you have not answered. You are free to accept or decline it, at no cost. A quote whose validity date has passed can no longer be accepted.

7. Declining a quote, changing mover or stopping your request

If the quote does not suit you, you can decline it and, if you wish, give the reason. After declining, you can ask once for your request to be offered to another mover. You can also stop your request at any time from your page or through the link in your e-mails: it is then offered to nobody. All of this is free. Once a quote has been accepted, your contact details are exchanged with the mover: if you do not go ahead, let them know. Cancelling or changing a removal contract you have already made with them is governed by that contract and its terms.

8. Your contact details and messaging

Until you accept their quote, the mover only sees your municipality and postcode, all the details of the move (date, volume, floors, lift, access, inventory, options, photos and written notes; the access photos only after they have accepted your request); they do not see your name, street, phone or e-mail. So please do not put your contact details in the notes or on the photos, and do not show a house number or number plate. Once the mover has accepted your request, you can exchange messages with them through Movzo; until their quote is accepted, phone numbers, e-mail addresses and links are hidden automatically.

When you accept a quote, you give your phone number and the street and house number of the departure and arrival addresses. Movzo then passes your name, these full addresses, your phone and your e-mail to the mover, and gives you the company’s name, company number, address, phone and e-mail. Details are explained in our privacy policy.

9. The removal contract and payment

Accepting a quote on Movzo does not yet bind you: you receive the mover’s contact details and they receive yours (name, phone, e-mail, addresses). The removal contract is then made directly with the mover, who must give you all the legally required information at that point (including their identity, the total price, their terms and, where applicable, the right of withdrawal). The price, any deposit, the method and timing of payment, insurance, the invoice and the performance of the move are agreed and settled directly between you and the mover. Movzo does not collect the price, is not involved in the payment and does not refund amounts paid to the mover.

10. Right of withdrawal

Movzo’s service is free and you can stop your request at any time, at no cost and without giving a reason: you therefore do not need a right of withdrawal towards Movzo. The removal contract is made with the mover, who must tell you before you are bound whether you have a right of withdrawal. If this contract is made at a distance or off the mover’s premises:

  • if it sets a specific date or period of performance, the right of withdrawal is in principle excluded (transport of goods, Art. VI.53, 12° of the Belgian Code of Economic Law);
  • if it does not set a specific date or period (for example a date still to be agreed or “flexible”), you in principle have 14 days after the contract is made to withdraw without giving a reason; if you ask the mover to start during this period, you may have to pay for the part already carried out.

If the mover did not inform you of this right when it applies, the period may be extended by up to 12 months. If in doubt, ask the mover before making the contract.

11. Your commitments

  • Describe your move honestly and completely (volume, floors, access, heavy or fragile items): a quote relies on this information.
  • Give your real name and correct contact details, and only make a request for a real move.
  • Do not send duplicate, fictitious or abusive requests, or use the service to canvass movers.
  • Remain courteous in messages and do not try to get around the hiding of contact details before you have accepted a quote.
  • Tell the mover as soon as possible if your plans change after accepting a quote.

In case of abuse, Movzo may stop a request or refuse new requests from the same person.

12. Reviews

Only a client who accepted a mover’s quote through Movzo can rate that mover, once, from the day after the moving date: a score from 1 to 5 and a comment. The review is published with your first name, the initial of your surname, the departure and arrival municipalities and the month of the move. The mover can reply once. Movzo only hides reviews that are insulting, off-topic or contain personal data, and never removes a review because it is negative. Anyone can report a review with the “Report” link. The mover may in turn give Movzo a private review of how the move went (for example a volume or access different from the request): it is not published and is only used for quality control.

13. Movzo’s liability

Movzo is responsible for the functioning of the platform, the correct transmission of your request and your contact details under these terms, and the check of the movers’ company number when they are activated. This check does not guarantee the quality, availability, price or performance of the move. Movzo is not liable for the mover’s failings (damage, loss, delay, price, insurance), except where Movzo is at fault. Movzo does its best to keep the website available but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or your consumer rights against the mover.

14. Complaints and reports

For a question or a complaint, including about a mover, use our contact form: we reply within 2 working days. Every complaint about a mover is examined and may lead to their account being suspended. To report illegal content (for example a review), use the “Report” link or the reporting form: we handle every report diligently and inform you of our decision.

15. Mediation, applicable law and courts

These terms are governed by Belgian law. If a disagreement with Movzo cannot be settled by writing to us, you can contact the Consumer Ombudsman Service free of charge (consumerombudsman.be), which handles consumer complaints or forwards them to the competent body. Disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the Belgian courts; as a consumer, you can always go to the court of your place of residence, and the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence continue to apply.

16. Changes to these terms

Movzo may adapt these terms, for example to follow the law or changes to the service. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page. The version that applies to your request is the one in force when you sent it.

Partner terms

The terms for partner movers are on a separate page: partner terms (movers).

The movers’ commitment on client data (independent controllers) is on the same page: commitment on client data.

The conditions for partner agencies are also there: conditions for partner agencies.
