Reserving parking in Maasmechelen

How to apply
Apply online via the municipal website and choose the option ‘verhuis/levering op parkeerplaats’. The permit is sent digitally; display it behind the windscreen. Municipal staff place the no-parking signs. Afterwards you put the signs at the roadside and the municipality collects them.
| When to apply | At least 15 calendar days ahead (also for extensions). For a full road closure: 25 calendar days ahead. On regional roads (e.g. N78 Rijksweg, N763, N742) you first need a permit from the Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer Limburg (Maaseik district). |
| Cost | Free: occupations for deliveries or house moves are exempt from the tax (public-space tax regulation 2026-2031, art. 5b). In paid parking zones there is a cost (report to Cityparking Maasmechelen, [email protected]); ask the municipality for the amount. |
| Who places the signs? | The city |
| Limits and furniture lift | By default 15 metres are reserved (if you need a different length, state it in your application). A maximum of 2 consecutive days. A permit is only granted if there is no acceptable alternative; keep the occupation as small as possible in time and space. Any other signage (e.g. for a furniture lift) must be supplied, placed and removed by the applicant. |

You always apply to the municipality yourself, not the mover: then mention the length you have reserved in your message.

How it works
- 1Describe your move, once
Route, floors, furniture, options and, if you like, up to 15 photos (rooms and access): about 3 minutes.
- 2Confirm your e-mail
One click on the link we e-mail you confirms your request. It is checked, then passed to a mover.
- 3One verified mover receives your request
They have 2 hours to accept it (counted between 8 am and 9 pm). A request confirmed between 9 pm and 8 am is passed to a mover from 8 am. If they decline or do not reply, your request goes to the next mover.
- 4You receive their quote through Movzo
They send it within 5 hours (same hours). You accept or decline it; if it does not suit you, you can ask once for another mover.
- 5You deal directly with the mover
Quote accepted: you receive their contact details and they receive yours. You agree and pay directly with them, then you leave a review after the move.
Before you move
- Parking permit: reserve the space with the municipality, at least 15 days ahead. See how it works

- Register your address with your new municipality within 8 working days; a local police officer will visit to confirm.
- Dates: the end of the month and summer are busy. Book 4 to 6 weeks ahead.

How much does a move cost?

Usually yes: you reserve the space in front of your building with the municipality, at least 15 days ahead. You apply yourself, not the mover.
Do the movers speak English?
Many do, especially in Brussels. Write “English please” in your message; you can also say so in the chat.
