How to apply

You apply online for the public-domain occupation permit (also for a removal van with or without a lift) via EagleBe on the Bruges Police website, with a compulsory signage plan. Once approved you pay online and receive the permit by e-mail. You put up signs yourself no later than 24 hours in advance and enter the number plates in EagleBe, or, for a move without a lift, you rent signs from the police, who place and remove them.

When to applyAsk the city about the notice period and apply as soon as your date is fixed. Put your own signs up no later than 24 hours in advance; police signs: pay by the working day before placement (e.g. move on Monday: pay by Thursday).
CostPermit fee + charge per unit of 10 m² (about 1 parking space) per day under the tariff regulation (valid from 1 January 2026); ask the city for the amounts. Renting, placing and collecting police signs: €50 (max. 1 day, max. 2 locations). Urgent procedure: €100.
Who places the signs? You (or your mover)
Limits and furniture liftPolice signs only for a move/delivery without a lift, max. 1 day, max. 2 locations. The permit is only valid if the signs are placed according to the rules.

How it works

  1. 1
    Describe your move, once

Route, floors, furniture, options and, if you like, up to 15 photos (rooms and access): about 3 minutes.

  2. 2
    Confirm your e-mail

One click on the link we e-mail you confirms your request. It is checked, then passed to a mover.

  3. 3
One verified mover receives your request

They have 2 hours to accept it (counted between 8 am and 9 pm). A request confirmed between 9 pm and 8 am is passed to a mover from 8 am. If they decline or do not reply, your request goes to the next mover.

  4. 4
You receive their quote through Movzo

They send it within 5 hours (same hours). You accept or decline it; if it does not suit you, you can ask once for another mover.

  5. 5
You deal directly with the mover

Quote accepted: you receive their contact details and they receive yours. You agree and pay directly with them, then you leave a review after the move.

Good to know

Before you move

  • Parking permit: reserve the space with the municipality, from a few days to more than a month ahead, depending on the municipality. See how it works
  • Furniture lift: from the 2nd floor without a lift, it often saves a lot of time.
  • Register your address with your new municipality within 8 working days; a local police officer will visit to confirm.
  • Dates: the end of the month and summer are busy. Book 4 to 6 weeks ahead.

FAQ

How much does a move cost?

The price depends on volume, floors, access, distance and options. A verified mover sends you their quote through Movzo, free of charge. For orders of magnitude, see our example prices.

Do I need a parking permit?

Usually yes: you reserve the space in front of your building with the municipality, from a few days to more than a month ahead, depending on the municipality. You apply yourself, not the mover.

Do the movers speak English?

Many do, especially in Brussels. Write “English please” in your message; you can also say so in the chat.
