Reserving parking in Geraardsbergen

How to apply
Apply for a permit to occupy public space via the online form (Eaglebe) or at the Mobility department by appointment. No-parking signs (E3) are lent free of charge by the technical service (while stocks last): collect them by phone appointment at the city depot, Gaverstraat 17A. You place the signs yourself at least 48 hours in advance and then e-mail the number plates of any parked vehicles to [email protected].
| When to apply | At least 10 working days before the start of the occupation; at least 15 working days if a street has to be closed. E3 no-parking signs must be placed at least 48 hours in advance. |
| Cost | Base fee €25 + €0.50 per day per m² occupied (parking space = 10 m²; a started day/m² counts in full). Street closure: + €125. On a road managed by another road authority: €25 regardless of area and duration. E3 signs: lent free of charge; delivery and collection by the technical service: flat fee of €100 per permit. Signs not returned within 7 working days after the permit: charged at the price of new signs. 2026-2031 rates, indexed every year. |
| Who places the signs? | You (or your mover) |
| Limits and furniture lift | Permit for a maximum of 60 calendar days. Return the signs no later than 2 working days after the end. Removal vans and furniture lifts fall under temporary private occupation; ask the city about the maximum length. Traffic signs other than E3 must be provided by the applicant. Regional roads (e.g. N42, N8) for more than 24 hours: separate application to the Agency for Roads and Traffic (Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer). |

How it works
- 1Describe your move, once
Route, floors, furniture, options and, if you like, up to 15 photos (rooms and access): about 3 minutes.
- 2Confirm your e-mail
One click on the link we e-mail you confirms your request. It is checked, then passed to a mover.
- 3One verified mover receives your request
They have 2 hours to accept it (counted between 8 am and 9 pm). A request confirmed between 9 pm and 8 am is passed to a mover from 8 am. If they decline or do not reply, your request goes to the next mover.
- 4You receive their quote through Movzo
They send it within 5 hours (same hours). You accept or decline it; if it does not suit you, you can ask once for another mover.
- 5You deal directly with the mover
Quote accepted: you receive their contact details and they receive yours. You agree and pay directly with them, then you leave a review after the move.
Before you move
- Parking permit: reserve the space with the municipality, at least 10 working days ahead. See how it works
- Furniture lift: from the 2nd floor without a lift, it often saves a lot of time.
- Register your address with your new municipality within 8 working days; a local police officer will visit to confirm.
- Dates: the end of the month and summer are busy. Book 4 to 6 weeks ahead.
