Reserving parking in Leuven

How to apply
Apply online for a temporary parking ban permit via leuven.spotbooking.be (Permits Unit, Leuven Police / city). You can have the city put up the signs for a fee, or put up E1 signs yourself with an additional plate (date, permit number). If you put them up yourself, upload photos of the signs and the number plates of parked cars straight away via the link in the permit e-mail; otherwise the police cannot have vehicles towed.
| When to apply | Apply at least 4 full working days in advance; check the exact deadline with the city. Put up the signs at least 24 hours in advance (police guideline, January 2025). |
| Cost | Permit itself: ask the city for the price. Signs put up by the city: one-off €100 for placing and collecting + €8 rental per sign per day; extension another €100. Putting them up yourself: your own or rented signs. |
| Who places the signs? | You (or your mover) |
| Limits and furniture lift | Police regulation: a standard move or delivery may use 3 parking spaces or 45 m², for max. 2 consecutive days; more space must be applied for separately. At least 2 E1 signs (start and end), plus an intermediate sign beyond 50 m or after a junction; no handwritten signs. A permit is needed for a furniture lift on the public road. A move does not entitle you to enter the pedestrian zone. |

You always apply to the municipality yourself, not the mover: then mention the length you have reserved in your message.

How it works
- 1Describe your move, once
Route, floors, furniture, options and, if you like, up to 15 photos (rooms and access): about 3 minutes.
- 2Confirm your e-mail
One click on the link we e-mail you confirms your request. It is checked, then passed to a mover.
- 3One verified mover receives your request
They have 2 hours to accept it (counted between 8 am and 9 pm). A request confirmed between 9 pm and 8 am is passed to a mover from 8 am. If they decline or do not reply, your request goes to the next mover.
- 4You receive their quote through Movzo
They send it within 5 hours (same hours). You accept or decline it; if it does not suit you, you can ask once for another mover.
- 5You deal directly with the mover
Quote accepted: you receive their contact details and they receive yours. You agree and pay directly with them, then you leave a review after the move.
Before you move
- Parking permit: reserve the space with the municipality, at least 4 working days ahead. See how it works
- Furniture lift: from the 2nd floor without a lift, it often saves a lot of time.
- Register your address with your new municipality within 8 working days; a local police officer will visit to confirm.
- Dates: the end of the month and summer are busy. Book 4 to 6 weeks ahead.

FAQ
How much does a move cost?
The price depends on volume, floors, access, distance and options. A verified mover sends you their quote through Movzo, free of charge. For orders of magnitude, see our example prices.
Do I need a parking permit?
Usually yes: you reserve the space in front of your building with the municipality, at least 4 working days ahead. You apply yourself, not the mover.
Do the movers speak English?
Many do, especially in Brussels. Write “English please” in your message; you can also say so in the chat.
