How to apply

Apply for the ‘public domain occupation’ permit online via Spotbooking (tienen.spotbooking.be). You can rent and put up no-parking signs yourself, or have the city’s technical department place them for a fee. The signs must be up at least 24 hours in advance. Then upload photos of the placed signs to your Spotbooking application: only then can the police act and have cars towed away.

When to applyAt least 5 working days (day of application and day of occupation not counted) if traffic can still pass and the occupation is no wider than a parking space; 20 working days for a closure, one-way traffic or diversion. Signs 24 hours in advance.
CostFile fee €15 (one-off); occupation without traffic measures €0.50 per m² per day; signs placed by the technical department: €60 first day + €25 per extra day; regularisation (late/overrun) €50. For a move between two addresses in Tienen: two applications, one of which is exempt from payment.
Who places the signs? You (or your mover)

How it works

  1. 1
    Describe your move, once

Route, floors, furniture, options and, if you like, up to 15 photos (rooms and access): about 3 minutes.

  2. 2
    Confirm your e-mail

One click on the link we e-mail you confirms your request. It is checked, then passed to a mover.

  3. 3
One verified mover receives your request

They have 2 hours to accept it (counted between 8 am and 9 pm). A request confirmed between 9 pm and 8 am is passed to a mover from 8 am. If they decline or do not reply, your request goes to the next mover.

  4. 4
You receive their quote through Movzo

They send it within 5 hours (same hours). You accept or decline it; if it does not suit you, you can ask once for another mover.

  5. 5
You deal directly with the mover

Quote accepted: you receive their contact details and they receive yours. You agree and pay directly with them, then you leave a review after the move.

FAQ

How much does a move cost?

The price depends on volume, floors, access, distance and options. A verified mover sends you their quote through Movzo, free of charge. For orders of magnitude, see our example prices.

Do I need a parking permit?

Usually yes: you reserve the space in front of your building with the municipality, at least 5 working days ahead. You apply yourself, not the mover.

Do the movers speak English?

Many do, especially in Brussels. Write “English please” in your message; you can also say so in the chat.
