How to apply

You apply for temporary occupation of the public domain (parking ban) via the city’s online application form (Traffic department). When to applyApply at least 3 working days in advance (no-parking signs); other applications (e.g. furniture lift) 10 working days. Put the signs up 24 hours in advance.
CostParking ban free; signs lent free to residents. Other occupations: €1.00/m² per day (in a paid zone from day 1, elsewhere from day 8).
Who places the signs? You (or your mover)
Limits and furniture liftA furniture lift requires permission/a signage permit (10 working days). For removal vans in the Zuiderpromenade there is a temporary code for the bollards (loading/unloading only).

How it works

  1. 1
    Describe your move, once

Route, floors, furniture, options and, if you like, up to 15 photos (rooms and access): about 3 minutes.

  2. 2
    Confirm your e-mail

One click on the link we e-mail you confirms your request. It is checked, then passed to a mover.

  3. 3
One verified mover receives your request

They have 2 hours to accept it (counted between 8 am and 9 pm). A request confirmed between 9 pm and 8 am is passed to a mover from 8 am. If they decline or do not reply, your request goes to the next mover.

  4. 4
You receive their quote through Movzo

They send it within 5 hours (same hours). You accept or decline it; if it does not suit you, you can ask once for another mover.

  5. 5
You deal directly with the mover

Quote accepted: you receive their contact details and they receive yours. You agree and pay directly with them, then you leave a review after the move.

  • Furniture lift: from the 2nd floor without a lift, it often saves a lot of time.
  • Register your address with your new municipality within 8 working days; a local police officer will visit to confirm.
  • Dates: the end of the month and summer are busy. Book 4 to 6 weeks ahead.

FAQ

How much does a move cost?

The price depends on volume, floors, access, distance and options. A verified mover sends you their quote through Movzo, free of charge. For orders of magnitude, see our example prices.

Do I need a parking permit?

Usually yes: you reserve the space in front of your building with the municipality, at least 3 working days ahead. You apply yourself, not the mover.

Do the movers speak English?

Many do, especially in Brussels. Write “English please” in your message; you can also say so in the chat.
