Reserving parking in Charleroi

How to apply
In Charleroi, you fill in the ‘temporary private occupation of the public road’ form (Service Voirie) and send it by e-mail to [email protected] or by post. On the form you can ask to borrow no-parking signs free of charge; an agent contacts you to arrange it, and you place and return them yourself. A per-m² fee is invoiced afterwards.
| When to apply | No later than 7 calendar days before the occupation; request processed within 72 hours. |
| Cost | Fee €1.50/m²/day (any day started counts as a full day), flat minimum €20; if the total exceeds €66.50, flat €66.50 per week (2026-2031, indexed). Sign loan free; late return €20/day/sign; lost/damaged sign €100. |
| Who places the signs? | You (or your mover) |
| Limits and furniture lift | Sign loan: 1 week maximum; collect and return them to the ‘permissions voirie’ service, rue Appaumée 69, 6043 Ransart. Lift/hoist and container: same form (state dimensions), keep a 1.50 m clear pedestrian passage. A copy of the police authorisation is also required. |
| Contact | Roads department, rue des Bouleaux 21, 6001 Marcinelle — [email protected] — 071 86 93 28 / 071 86 94 38; changes of duration: [email protected] |
You always apply to the municipality yourself, not the mover: then mention the length you have reserved in your message.

How it works
- 1Describe your move, once
Route, floors, furniture, options and, if you like, up to 15 photos (rooms and access): about 3 minutes.
- 2Confirm your e-mail
One click on the link we e-mail you confirms your request. It is checked, then passed to a mover.
- 3One verified mover receives your request
They have 2 hours to accept it (counted between 8 am and 9 pm). A request confirmed between 9 pm and 8 am is passed to a mover from 8 am. If they decline or do not reply, your request goes to the next mover.
- 4You receive their quote through Movzo
They send it within 5 hours (same hours). You accept or decline it; if it does not suit you, you can ask once for another mover.
- 5You deal directly with the mover
Quote accepted: you receive their contact details and they receive yours. You agree and pay directly with them, then you leave a review after the move.
Before you move
- Parking permit: reserve the space with the municipality, at least 7 days ahead. See how it works
- Furniture lift: from the 2nd floor without a lift, it often saves a lot of time.
- Register your address with your new municipality within 8 working days; a local police officer will visit to confirm.
- Dates: the end of the month and summer are busy. Book 4 to 6 weeks ahead.

FAQ
How much does a move cost?
The price depends on volume, floors, access, distance and options. A verified mover sends you their quote through Movzo, free of charge. For orders of magnitude, see our example prices.
Do I need a parking permit?
Usually yes: you reserve the space in front of your building with the municipality, at least 7 days ahead. You apply yourself, not the mover.
Do the movers speak English?
Many do, especially in Brussels. Write “English please” in your message; you can also say so in the chat.
