Reserving parking in Tournai

How to apply
In Tournai, you first need a police authorisation (the ‘Demande d’autorisation’ form of the Public Space Management service, published by the Tournaisis police zone). Then private individuals can rent no-parking signs from the city and place them themselves, or have city staff place them for an extra fee. The Heritage and Public Domain Occupation service handles the fee.
| When to apply | Ask the municipality about the notice period and apply as soon as your date is fixed. Rental, placement and deposit must be paid no later than two days before the service date. |
| Cost | Sign rental: €6.15 per sign per day + €50 deposit per pair; placement and removal by the city: €36 (charged twice if two addresses). Moving fee (moving out or in): €0.50/m²/day, minimum €25; not due if the occupation lasts 24 hours or less (2026-2031 regulation). |
| Who places the signs? | You (or your mover) |
| Limits and furniture lift | Sign rental for private individuals only; duration follows the police authorisation, no refund for early return. Address must be in Tournai for city placement. Containers/lifts: specify on the authorisation form. |
| Contact | Heritage and Public Domain Occupation department, avenue de Maire 175, 7500 Tournai — [email protected] — 069 33 23 04; authorisation form: https://www.police.be/5316/sites/5316/files/media/file/2026-04/Autorisation%20Tournai.pdf |
You always apply to the municipality yourself, not the mover: then mention the length you have reserved in your message.

How it works
- 1Describe your move, once
Route, floors, furniture, options and, if you like, up to 15 photos (rooms and access): about 3 minutes.
- 2Confirm your e-mail
One click on the link we e-mail you confirms your request. It is checked, then passed to a mover.
- 3One verified mover receives your request
They have 2 hours to accept it (counted between 8 am and 9 pm). A request confirmed between 9 pm and 8 am is passed to a mover from 8 am. If they decline or do not reply, your request goes to the next mover.
- 4You receive their quote through Movzo
They send it within 5 hours (same hours). You accept or decline it; if it does not suit you, you can ask once for another mover.
- 5You deal directly with the mover
Quote accepted: you receive their contact details and they receive yours. You agree and pay directly with them, then you leave a review after the move.
Before you move
- Parking permit: reserve the space with the municipality, from a few days to more than a month ahead, depending on the municipality. See how it works
- Furniture lift: from the 2nd floor without a lift, it often saves a lot of time.
- Register your address with your new municipality within 8 working days; a local police officer will visit to confirm.
- Dates: the end of the month and summer are busy. Book 4 to 6 weeks ahead.

FAQ
How much does a move cost?
The price depends on volume, floors, access, distance and options. A verified mover sends you their quote through Movzo, free of charge. For orders of magnitude, see our example prices.
Do I need a parking permit?
Usually yes: you reserve the space in front of your building with the municipality, from a few days to more than a month ahead, depending on the municipality. You apply yourself, not the mover.
Do the movers speak English?
Many do, especially in Brussels. Write “English please” in your message; you can also say so in the chat.
